Boys Sophomore Golf, Boys Varsity Golf · Boys Golf Information

Last Wednesday the IHSA made a significant announcement regarding high school sports in Illinois this school year. Among the great news is that golf season is currently a go for this Fall!
Our season begins Monday, August 10th. Our participation numbers in recent years have dictated that we have not had to have “tryouts,” and have not had to cut down our roster. However, should we have more than 24 players attending the first few days, we are limited to 24 participants. We will be having practice on Monday, August 10th at 9:00am at the Atwood driving range until 11:00am. We will spend the first half hour discussing how the season is going to look as of now, and outlining the school and IHSA requirements. On Tuesday (8/11) and Wednesday (8/12), we will plan on playing 18 holes at Atwood with tee times beginning at 9:00am each day. Please plan on bringing $10 for your greens fees each of these two days if you do not currently have a county golf pass or team golf pass. There are many unique aspects to the golf season, and we additionally have regulations and restrictions this season due to COVID that we will need to discuss, so I will talk with the players about county passes, golf club storage during school, driving passes for upperclassmen, and transportation procedures with players on Monday, August 10th.
In order to participate on Monday, August 10th, all players must be registered online for Harlem Athletics and must have a current athletic physical. Please click on the link below to register:
Boys Golf will be under “New Fall Sports” for registration, and if possible, please e-mail or fax your completed physical to the Athletics Office in order to limit traffic in the building. You can email completed physicals to: kim.jack@harlem122.org , or fax completed physicals to 815-654-9453. Our Athletic Director, Ms. Hoffmann, has indicated to us that Athletic Fees and payment information will be coming at a later date due to the unique athletics circumstances this year. The registration process will also include waiver forms regarding COVID.
I will have a very tentative season calendar for players at practice on Monday. Our season may change very abruptly based on overall health conditions of the state. I would recommend that all players bring a mask with them to the golf course. We will practice physical distancing of 6 feet, and we will not be required to wear our masks outdoors, but players will be required to put on a mask entering the clubhouse. Any player who would like to wear a mask while outdoors is certainly welcome to do so as well. We will be taking the temperature of all participants at the beginning of each team event as well. IF YOU DO NOT FEEL WELL ON THE MORNING OF A TEAM ACTIVITY, OR IF YOU HAVE A FEVER, PLEASE STAY HOME.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday, August 10th!
